Our Story
Since opening our doors in 1973, the Calgary Family Therapy Centre has been a place where families can turn for support, guidance, and hope — always free of charge. We began with a simple commitment: that no family should be denied therapy because of cost. That commitment remains at the heart of everything we do.
Over the past 50 years, thousands of families have come to us in moments of struggle — facing conflict, anxiety, depression, school challenges, and more. Together, we’ve worked to create space for healing, understanding, and stronger relationships.
Our story is also one of learning. As a teaching centre, we welcome graduate students, interns, and externs who are guided by experienced faculty. Families not only receive care but also help shape the next generation of family therapists.
Today, we are proud to be both a community resource and a learning community — a place where families find connection and strength, and where new therapists grow through the privilege of walking alongside them.
